WASHINGTON — The government is handing out nearly $2 billion for new solar plants that President Barack Obama says will create thousands of jobs and increase the use of renewable energy sources....
"We're going to keep competing aggressively to make sure the jobs and industries of the future are taking root right here in America," Obama said.
The two companies that will receive the money from the president's $862 billion economic stimulus are Abengoa Solar, which will build one of the world's largest solar plants in Arizona, creating 1,600 construction jobs; and Abound Solar Manufacturing, which is building plants in Colorado and Indiana. The Obama administration says those projects will create more than 2,000 construction jobs and 1,500 permanent jobs....
OK, let's do the math. 1500 permanent jobs (which we know will only be permanent as long as there are annual "temporary appropriations") for 2 billion dollars...that's over a million a job. Am I the only one out there thinking this is a little much for make work.
Obama has said that to bring the nation's economy back from the brink of a depression, it was necessary to add to the country's debt in the short term.
OK Barry, how did you lead us back from the brink of depression...when you were campaigning the unemployment rate was around 5 percent...it's now twice that. You have not only increased the yearly deficit for a couple of budgets but also bankrupted the county.
Obama voters, how's that hope and change working out for you!
how about building a dozen NEW nuke plants, add another reactor to existing nuke plants and expand existing refineries ?? How many jobs will THAT add to the economy (construction and permanent) Mr. Know-It-All-Teleprompter ?? Yet I digress.

ReplyDeleteWhat’s bad is there are 30 applications for nuke plants…but there is nothing to stop every left wing crazy group from filing a law suit to stop it. We need reforms to stop that…and we need to copy the French. They have all their nuclear waste stored in one central area guarded by the French Army. As opposed to us with nuclear waste in sites all over the country. Unfortunately B Hussein Obama has already said he won’t set up a place like Yucca Mountain.
