Another one from Hollywood's great days is gone

I remember that great quote from Norma Desmond, aka Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd, "I am big. It's the pictures that got small.

Another one from the days when the pictuers and the stars were big has passed.
Oscar-Winning Actress Patricia Neal Dead at 84

Neal in The Fountainhead

One of the great differences in classis movies and the crap you see today is the blatant sex scenes throughout a picture. In one of my favorite World War II movies, In Harm's Way, Neal and John Wayne are stationed in the Pacific and are in a relationship. There comes a time when Neal has to ship out to another post and she meets Wayne at his quarters.

Neal: "So we won't see each other for what's known as the foreseeable future?"
Wayne: "No"
Neal: "Should we just leave it at that?"

Wayne walks to his phone, calls his roommate and asks "Egan, Rock. You bunk out tonight?"
Burgess Meredith, aka Commander Egan Powell: "I'm sure I can manage Rock." with a serious grin on his face like "I know what you're up to".

Wayne looks at Neal, "Maggie..." and she answers "Yes Rock...." as she hicks off her shoes and loosens her hair. Fade to dark.

The adults knew what happened and the kids didn't know about the Missionary Position. What a class act.

Rest In Peace Patricia Neal. The pictures got small and you will be missed.
