An American Independence Day

What a better way to celebrate the birth our nation....getting together, BBQ, fireworks, and there is nothing more American than....King Kong vs Godzilla, in surround sound

We spent the day with our friends and Beth brought this all time classic. Now the girls, the oldest of which is 16, don’t know what a real movie is. Until yesterday they hadn’t seen cheesy styrofoam rocks thrown for miles...Japanese “actors” with the dialogue not matching their lip movements...no real plot...cheap model airplanes and tanks melted by flame...but best of all, the stars themselves. So of course, we all started to make comments that would have made Mystery Science Theater 3000 proud. The stiff news reader with the globe, “You want to spin the globe, spin it, spin it!” King and Godz going at it, “Everyone was Kung Fo fighting!”

After dying laughing for almost two hours (we need to do this again....Godzilla vs Motha anyone?) we spend a couple of hours down by the pool. And we lucked out. We had a great view of the city fireworks celebration.

Hope you great weekend...on to the second half of the year. America goes on!
