Not the best judgement from the Chief of Police....

From the Cereal State, California. The Land of Fruits, Flakes and Nuts.

Berkeley police union 'gravely concerned' with chief's move to alter story

BERKELEY -- The Berkeley police chief's decision to order a sergeant to a reporter's home insisting on changes to a story continued to draw heavy criticism Sunday, with the city's police union saying they are "gravely concerned" about his actions and the impact on officers' ability to maintain community trust.

Berkeley Police Chief Michael Meehan sent an armed police sergeant to Bay Area News Group reporter Doug Oakley's home at 12:45 a.m. Friday because he wanted a story that he perceived to contain inaccuracies changed online.

Just as an aside Mr Peele, police sergeant's (and police officer's, police lieutenant's, etc) are armed. It's one of the cool part's of the job, you can carry a gun.
First Amendment experts on Friday said Meehan's action was "an attempt at censorship by intimidation and an abuse of power."

...Meehan apologized Friday calling his actions an "overzealous attempt to make sure that accurate information is put out."...

Having just gotten called by a sergeant at six this morning on a BS call, I can relate to being annoyed about cops not being conceded about people's schedule. Hey moron, you think you could call them during work hours.

Chief, I hope you exercise better judgement on real cop stuff.
