An update on a cop killer

Good news from the Harris County Courthouse
Jurors decided Tuesday to send Carl Wayne Buntion, a career criminal with 13 felony convictions, back to death row for gunning down Houston motorcycle officer James Irby during a routine traffic stop June 27, 1990.

The jury deliberated more than 10 hours since Monday afternoon.

Irby's widow, Maura, pumped her fist as the verdict was read. Buntion did not react.

Defense attorneys for Buntion had argued the 68-year-old has stayed out of trouble and with no acts of violence in the 22 years he has been on death row since being convicted of capital murder in the case in 1991...

Officer James Irby hasn't done much since that day and he won't be coming back to his thank to this POS. From the ODMP article on his murder.

Officer James Irby was shot and killed when he stopped a car for a minor traffic violation.

As he was talking with the driver, the passenger exited the vehicle and shot Officer Irby five times with a .357 handgun.

The suspect was convicted of Officer Irby's murder and sentenced to death, but has received a sentencing trial to be held in 2012 after an appeal determined that the original jury did not receive proper instructions.
This won't bring Officer Irby back to his family but at least they know his killer won't excape justice.

RIP Officer Irby.
