Not real Independence Day...

But good enough! Two of my favorite singers, Pat Benatar and Martina McBride. One of the first women of rock, and one kick ass country singer. When I first heard Martina, I thought, "This is country's Pat Benatar!" 

One of the greatest series in music was CMT Crossroads, country and rock singers playing their music. I remember this episode, with Martine starting off with "Promises in the Dark," and after the first verse, Pat walks on stage. The next hour are awesome. 

Here is one of Martina's signature songs, "Independence Day", on domestic violence. Pat covered child abuse in "Hell is for Children", so both have a social conciousness in their songes.
