What leftists and conservatives drink.....

Not exactly the most scientific pole you will ever see. For those you need to look at global cooling, err global warming, oh man-made climate change. Now I'm to the right of Rush Limbaugh and I tend to darker liquors (scotch, bourbon, etc) and beers. I love Guinness and Abita Turbodog. But this is interesting.

What your favorite drink says about your politics, in one chart

Former Mississippi governor and uber-Republican Haley Barbour loves bourbon. Franklin Roosevelt mixed martinis. And, as it turns out, those two partisans have something in common with their base voters: Consumer data suggests Democrats prefer clear spirits, while Republicans like their brown liquor.

Democratic drinkers are more likely to sip Absolut and Grey Goose vodkas, while Republican tipplers are more likely to savor Jim Beam, Canadian Club and Crown Royal. That research comes from consumer data supplied by GFK MRI, and analyzed by Jennifer Dube of National Media Research Planning and Placement, an Alexandria-based Republican consulting firm.

The results are fascinating: Analyzing voting habits of those who imbibe, Dube found that 14 of the top 15 brands that indicate someone is most likely to vote are wines.

If you see someone at your New Years party tonight drinking Kendall-Jackson or Robert Mondavi wines, that person is highly likely to vote, and they’re likely to vote Republican. Someone who savors a Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, one of Washington State’s top producers, or Smoking Loon, they’re likely to cast ballots for Democrats.

Columbia Crest, Ravenswood, Francis Coppola and Charles Shaw (better known as two-buck Chuck) all produce wines Democrats favor. Fish Eye, Bogle and Franzia drinkers are more likely to lean right.

And, perhaps not surprisingly, given the relative youth of those involved, people who take shots of Jagermeister or Don Julio are much less likely to vote.

The ironies abound. The comedian Bill Maher once accused House Speaker John Boehner of doing a shot of Wild Turkey every time House Republicans voted to defund Obamacare; little did he know Wild Turkey is one of the most heavily Republican brands. Smoking Loon, the Democratic-leaning wine, was formerly run by Don Sebastiani, who served three terms in the California state Assembly — as a Republican.

Rum appears to be the most bipartisan drink. Both Bacardi and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum fall right in the middle of the political spectrum.

So, for those hoping the spirit of bipartisanship infuses 2014, perhaps ringing in the new year with a rum punch is the best way to celebrate. Send a shot of Jim Beam to your friends at the Republican National Committee, and a shot of Jameson to your friends at the Democratic National Committee.

Champagne, as it turns out, is mostly a Democratic drink.
Not surprised leftists like that piss water.  They are associated with big business like Hollywood.  And I for one can't stand sparkling wines.

Thanks Cigar Dave for the link to the article.

Seems you got a lot of hate for roughly half of all Americans. Is it possible that maybe big money interests (Teachers unions BAD! Police and Firefighters unions BAD! Wall Street Bankers GOOD!) have been feeding you a lot of propaganda? When you are with other people (outside your immediate circle of freinds), does it REALLY seem like one out of every two people you encounter want to enact sharia law? Seriously, that one out of every two people is trying to tear the country down? That you seeone out of every two people in the supermarket as secret Muslims who hate Christians? Do you really think that one out of every two people are bent on destroying Christmas?!? God almighty, why has the conservative base gone so extreme? My father was a conservative republican; an army colonel who served in North Africa and Europe in WWII. He REALLY would not recognize what is going on with conservatives right now. Not only the rest of country, but the rest of the world is looking on in shock. A good part of Conservative America has really lost touch with reality.

Thanks for pointing out the typos. Corrected.

Now Calm, you got the grammar down but you seemed to have missed the comprehension. This article is borderline satire. It's reporting on a poll that is in no way scientific, linking types of alcohol to political orientation. Also, reread the last paragraph of the article and the first paragraph of my comment. I was referring to champaign or sparkling wines as "piss water". If you haven't gotten it, I don't care for them. New Years Eve at midnight I was drinking scotch while my wife and mother drank champaign.

Now again, back to the comprehension you seem to lack. I said nothing about unions, bankers, teachers, cops, firemen, Muslims, Sharia Law or Christians. If I did, please point it out. Otherwise, you seem to be projecting your anger via unsupported assumption. BTY I am a union member.

Your comment on a "reality check" is curious. What reality check do you mean? Your writing seems to show a "one demential" thinking of "us" vs "them". But more importantly, you unilaterally say you will support "...any duly elected president, whether I like him or not. It's been over 5 years, and he still hasn't tried to take my gun.)" Just because he was elected doesn't mean he's earned my support. I'm not a sheep. I'm a life long Republican but I never supported McCain, I didn't vote for the senior RINO from Arizona, but against the unqualified socialist from Illinois. I was opposed to B Hussein Obama and his goal of "fundamentally transforming" this country. Also, something you should realize. It's more important for a leader to be respected than linked. I don't know if you realize that. I know B Hussein doesn't. He doesn't know what leadership is.

BTY Calm, he wants your gun. What he can't get directly by legislation he'll do indirectly by bureaucratic regulation or executive order. Watch the price of ammo skyrocket in the future. You can't afford ammo, what's the point of the gun. Then again, you don;t need a gun. Just ask him or Joe "Shotgun" Bite-me.

      Have a great weekend.

  2. And I say that with all due respect. I don't think Conservatives like "piss water". I don't hate Republicans. I just think there's a serious need for a reality check when ANY American thinks half of all Americans hate America.

(I'm a vet. I own a gun. And I'll support any duly elected president, whether I like him or not. It's been over 5 years, and he still hasn't tried to take my gun.)
