Police Officer Matt Tyner was killed in a motorcycle accident while performing traffic enforcement on Austin Bluffs Parkway, Oro Blanco Drive and Old Farm Drive, shortly after 2:30 pm.

His motorcycle collided with another vehicle, causing him to suffer fatal injuries.

Officer Tyner had served with the Colorado Springs Police Department for 13 years and had previously served with the Kansas City Police Department for six years. He was assigned to the Specialized Enforcement Motorcycle Unit.

  1. My condolences, as always, to an officer lost in the line of duty. Best motorcyclists in the business.

    Sure there's a much greater percentage chance of being seriously hurt or killed in an accident when on a bike than in a car, but a car is a car. A bike you have an affinity with, its very personal. After 43 years in the saddle I still have that affinity.

    Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

      Completely agree. I came later in life to motorcycles and a few years ago moved up to my HD Road King. Nothing is better than cruising on my RK with my wife Beth. As with Officer Tyner it’s a life well lived.

      He died doing what he loved and may he RIP.
