The PDRK is at it again

I have a friend from high school who started at the LA County Sheriff's Office in 1990. When I caught up with him on "My Space" around 2002 he was so happy living in Los Angeles. By the time I checked in with him on Facebook around 10 years later, he was already planning on a retirement away from his adopted home state. I can see why, including this: 

Calif. bill banning use of police K-9s for arrests, crowd control passes 1st vote (police1.com)

The bill prevents the use of police K-9s for the purpose of arrest, apprehension, or crowd control in the following ways: 

• No use of an unleashed K-9 to arrest or apprehend a person. 

• No use of a K-9 for crowd control at any assembly, protest, or demonstration. 

• A K-9 cannot be used in any circumstance to bite. 

The bill will now advance to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. 

I cannot tell you how much this infuriates me. People who will never have to deal with taking a suspect into custody, controlling rioters (not protestors, rioters, such as the George Floyd riots of 2020), or having a suspect with a weapon are going to limit the weapons the cops on the street have. 

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to go to an alarm call, find signs of entry (e.g., door open, window smashed) and had the assistance of a patrol K9. For those of you who have not entered a house looking for a suspect, the K9 and his handler enter, usually with another officer following. The handler controls the dog, the escorting officer covers the K9 team, and they can find a suspect much quicker than a human. German Shepard’s sense of smell is at least 10, 000 times better than that of a human. He finds the bad guys and just the sound or presence of the dog gets the suspect to surrender And these racist idiots will endanger the lives of countless cops and civilians with this. 

I've said it too many times recently, cops, join the fire department. They don't want us working, we'll oblige. But it's too dangerous right now being a cop.

On March 14, 1984, Gary Plauché waited at a wall phone for the man who molested and kidnapped his son. The suspect was found in California with his son, and the boy had been returned a few days before. And the suspect was being escorted to Baton Rouge by police pending trial. On live TV, as the man was walking through the airport, they passed a bank of pay phones. Mr. Plauché turned, aimed, fired (killed the suspect almost instantly, he got off easy), and immediately surrounded to the police. 

The assistant district attorney who taught my police academy class criminal law had a phrase: "Some people just need killing!" He qualified. Sometimes justice is served outside of the justice system. So did this sack of shit. 

Well, looks like someone has also handled a matter where the justice system failed. 

Teen Who Got Lenient Sentence For Plowing Car Into Mother And Baby Is Fatally Shot After Release

Palmdale, CA – A California teen who was sentenced to just a few months in a juvenile probation camp for mowing down a mother with a stolen car as she was walking with her eight-month-old son in a stroller in 2021 was found shot to death last week.

Sources close to the investigation said that 17-year-old Kristopher Baca had gone to a fast-food restaurant on Jan. 18 in an attempt to “get with a girl,” according to FOX News.

He was walking home alone in the 83600-block of 11th Street East when a vehicle pulled up alongside him, according to the source.

An argument ensued and someone inside the car ultimately opened fire on Baca before speeding away, FOX News reported.

Los Angeles County deputies found him dead at the scene.

You can only speculate if given time he would have gotten his life together or not. But I think it's safe to say he wasn't headed to being the valedictorian of his high school, followed by Harvard and Yale medical school. Why am I so sure:

Baca was already on probation for poisoning a high school girl’s drink when the then-15-year-old slammed into a woman and her child on a one-way backstreet in Venice on Aug. 6, 2021, FOX News reported.

He was behind the wheel of a stolen car at the time.

Security footage showed the young mother trying to push herself and her child up against a wall as the speeding car came barreling towards them.

She turned her body towards the car at the last minute in a futile apparent attempt to protect her son, but the force of the impact threw her into the air and violently toppled the stroller.

The woman immediately scrambled to her feet and rushed to her baby as Baca sped off down the road, the video showed.

Several witnesses chased after the fleeing teen, who was ultimately stopped when the driver of a large pickup truck slammed into him head-on.

Thankfully some real public servants stopped the waste of sperm and took him into custody for the cops. A man driving a truck hit the stolen car to stop him. Hopefully the civilians severely detained him for the police. 

Seeing this is Los Angeles, he of course was given a slap on the wrist by the DA's office, and sentenced to juvenile probation camp. Not exactly club fed, but close. 

I do feel sorry for his mother, see has to bury her son, a nightmare I would not wish on my worse enemy. That being said...mom, he didn't concern himself with his life or anyone else's. Perhaps if he did, you would not being dealing with this now. But I don't think many other people should weep for his passing. 

I’m recalling the wisdom of two people...

My friend Darren at RotLC, a prisoner in the People's Democratic Republic of Kalifornia (PFRK). When the state went through a drought a few years back, the local water board asked people to use less water. He, and thousands like him, did that. And he water board realized they would loose money as fewer gallons were sold. So they increased water rates. Well, after the drought, the water rationing ended...but they didn't drop the increased rates. Shocking.

Well, with the pandemic of 2020 in full bloom, the tax man is again showing he wants his cut first.

Tax on working at home proposed

LONDON — White-collar staff reaping the financial benefits of working from home should be taxed to help other workers who aren’t getting the same advantages, experts at Deutsche Bank said in a new report.

In its report on how to rebuild the economy after COVID-19, the bank proposed a 5 percent daily tax on each employee who continues to work from home, which could raise tens of billions of dollars for governments. The money could be used to help lower-income workers who have taken on greater risk because their jobs can’t be done remotely, it said.

The bank noted that the global pandemic has turbocharged the shift to remote work, a trend that looks set to last for the long term, with many workers expecting to spend at least a few days of their workweek at home even after the pandemic ends.

These workers benefit from more convenience and flexibility. They also save money because they don’t have to pay for commuting costs, takeout lunches or buying and dry cleaning work clothes — but it means those businesses that have grown up to support office workers won’t be able to recover and that “the economic malaise will be extended,” the report said...

One of Margaret Thatcher's great quotes (paraphrasing from memory), "The way to not solve a problem is to establish a government agency. The bureaucracy will never want it solved, the agency would loose it's reason for eating at the public trough." Assume this temporary tax is put forth, when will it end?
