In 1984, the Ethiopian famine was in full force, and an Irish musician, Bob Geldof, was very moved. He said he couldn't stay on the sidelines and took action. With several musician friends of his, he established a musical relief group, Band Aid. They wrote this one song which knocked it out of the park.
To his emennce credit, Mr Geldof has continued his efforts to bring attention to African hunger, but his methods have changed a bit. Trade, not aid, is the new catch phrase and using his influence to get more trade with African nations. Better we not have to feed the world, better they can do it themselves.
Merry Christmas.
