Woman gets 2 DWIs in 24 hours in Slidell

Slidell Police arrested a 26-year-old Mississippi woman twice in a 24-hour period for driving drunk, Detective Daniel Seuzeneau said in a news release. Two different officers arrested Marjorie Portier, of Carriere, Miss., early Saturday and again early Sunday, Seuzeneau said.

In the first instance, a Slidell Police officer noticed Portier's red 2002 Saturn swerving on Front Street at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. When the officer pulled her over, Portier exhibited signs of being intoxicated and was arrested, Seuzenueu said.

Portier, who had just left a party at a bar, agreed to a breath alcohol test that showed she had a blood alcohol content of .187 -- more than twice the legal limit of .08, Seuzeneau said. She was booked and charged with first offense driving while intoxicated and improper lane usage.

At 1:50 a.m. Sunday, another Slidell officer stopped Portier for speeding, swerving and making an improper turn on Gause Boulevard. The officer, who did not know Portier had been arrested less than 24 hours earlier, said Portier showed signs of being intoxicated, Seuzeneau said.

Portier, who again had just left a party at a bar, pleaded with the officer to not take her to jail for the second night in a row, Seuzeneau said. She agreed to a breath alcohol test and had a blood alcohol content of .130.

She was arrested and charged with second offense DWI, speeding, improper lane use and improper turn, he said...
