An update to the K9 killer in New Jersey

Last week I posted on the death of a K9 officer in New Jersey. Well, a politician wants to make causing the death of a K9 a minimum 5 year sentence.

Personally I would make it ten...that's the general useful life of a K9, but this is movement in the right direction.

  1. Sorry to hear of the death of the K9 dog. Does this happen often in the line of duty?

  2. Fortunately no. Like the human cops most of the time they live to retire with their handler…even though they won’t spilt their pension, the son of a b@#$ :<).

According to a few web sites I've looked on, you are looking at 10-20 K9s a year go down in the line of duty...most by being shot but sometimes they get hit by a vehicle or in this case thrown into traffic.

Most departments have the K9 stay with the handler at home and he is part of the family. When the dog has gotten too old for the work (8-10) in most departments he is allowed stay with the handler…there're the only family they know.
