The accused thug charged with pummeling an elderly Bronx man told cops he carried out the beating in order to score a gold chain - and casually recounted how he choked his defenseless victim, according to court records.
Cameron Roebuck, 20, was arraigned Tuesday night on a slew of charges including robbery, assault and grand larceny for allegedly beating down Jose Rodriguez, 81, in the lobby of his Parkchester apartment building Sept. 29.
Roebuck, a self-described street "hustler" obsessed with the nerdy Facebook game Cafe World, spilled his guts about the brazen robbery, court records show.
"I was following (Rodriguez for a few blocks)," he told cops, according to records. "I saw the gold chain on his neck. I followed him to the building. I remember choking him and I took his chain and wallet."
The beat down was caught on surveillance video that quickly went viral, turning Roebuck into a hated figure throughout the city.
A tipster recognized Roebuck from the video and tipped off detectives, who found him squatting in the basement of a building on Ellis Ave. in the Bronx Sunday night.
Cops were also able to link Roebuck to an Aug. 15 apartment burglary on White Plains Road, in which he and two pals stole $3,000 in electronics, cash and clothes while terrorizing the apartment owner, records show.
He faces more than 20 charges in that case, ranging from robbery to grand larceny.
Roebuck was also collared July 11 for the burglary of another Bronx apartment.

Here is the man he assaulted.
Hopefully the DA in New York will actually take this POS off the streets for more than five minutes.
