Cops disperse crowd at anti-police riot in Montreal
Montreal police have ordered protesters at an annual march against brutality to disperse, with riot officers charging the crowd as some demonstrators threw rocks.
At least 1,000 people showed up at the Berri metro station Thursday for the annual anti-police brutality march.
Police in riot gear ordered demonstrators to respect the law and move with traffic flow, and monitored the march from horseback, in some cases.
Authorities declared the march illegal shortly after 6:30 p.m. and ordered people to disperse.
Some protesters threw projectiles, while police sprayed chemical irritants...

Protests are being staged almost every day, as part of Quebec's widespread student movement against tuition increases.

Again back to the critics. Years ago I had a disturbance with a mental patient in front of a car dealership. Long story short, after a half can of mace two other officers and I used baton strikes to get him into handcuffs. The car dealership manager came out and said he saw the suspect had tried to assault me, etc and he would be my witness. Anyway as we were handling the scene the manger mentioned three of his employees thought we were a little hard on him.
My answer was simple. "Sir, please have these men come out here. We'll each give them a baton and a can of mace and they can show us how it's done."
They didn't want to come out.
Good work Montreal PD. And college kids, welcome to life. Sometimes you gotta pay more for something than you want to. Tough!
