Don’t Pass Police Chief Going 100 mph

Greece, N.Y. – Greece Police Chief Todd Baxter was on his way to work Tuesday morning when he says a motorcyclist "came from out of nowhere and flew in front of him."

The chief says the man was driving at speeds over 100 miles an hour and weaving in and out of lanes. When he tried to pull the driver over, Chief Baxter says the man kept going.

Eventually the suspect, 25-year-old Rob Martin, abandoned the motorcycle near the Latta Road entrance ramp and fled on foot.

Chief Baxter and Sergeant Ben Way scaled a fence to catch the suspect. Not only was Martin charged with reckless driving, speeding and other violations, he received a lecture from the police chief about dangerous driving.

Turns out, Rob Martin was wanted on a warrant out of the city, for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Martin was arraigned in Greece Town Court. Police say he was driving with a suspended license (it was suspended three times since April), no insurance, no registration and no inspection.

Bail was set at $10,000.
