It ain't like that anymore. I still have family there and the decline of society has reached my younger home town if you will.
But this is beyond all belief.
Man charged with killing girlfriend's sonOK, can we agree this man needs to get an express pass to the death house in Angola Prison?
A 30-year-old Thibodaux man is accused of killing his girlfriend's 7-year-old son, who was found decapitated on the side of the street Sunday afternoon.
Jeremiah Lee Wright, 414 W. 7th St., is charged with first-degree murder. The child, identified as Jori Lirette, was found on the street at about 12:15 p.m. outside the house at 414 W. 7th St., where he lived with Wright and his mother.
Police said Wright is Lirette's mother's live-in boyfriend and not the father, though family and friends of both Lirette and Wright said he is the biological father.
Lirette had cerebral palsy and was wheelchair-bound, police said. Wright allegedly confessed to detectives and has so far cooperated with the investigation.
He is being held at the Lafourche Parish jail in lieu of a $5 million bond. If convicted, Wright faces mandatory life in prison and is eligible for the death penalty.
A passing driver spotted the boy's head on the side of the road in front of the house shortly after noon. The body, authorities said, was in a white garbage bag nearby.
Lirette's family said Wright cut off his son's head with a meat cleaver, though police could not confirm this detail Sunday night. It is unclear when the decapitation took place, police said...
...The alleged act was done in the home's kitchen over the sink, authorities said. The mother, 27-year-old Jesslyn Lirette, was out getting her pickup repaired during the decapitation, police said.
...Those close to the family said there was tension between the couple for years. Officers were called to the house last month, when Wright and the boy's mother were arguing over money, police said.
It is unclear if investigators recovered a murder weapon from the house. Police Chief Scott Silverii said more details would be available at a 2 p.m. news conference today....
...Some officers responding to the scene were also shaken by the violence, Silverii said. The department will offer grief counseling to any officers who are in need, he said.
“Not in 22 years have I seen something like this,” Silverii said. “It's just heinous.”
It's beyond that sir...I only pray the DA doesn't take a plea bargain. If ever there is an example of something the needs to be eliminate from the human gene pool, this is it.
God Bless you Jori...this was as wrong as it gets but you're in a better place now.
