Yes this country is in distress and it's Mourning in America

DAY AFTER ELECTION CONTROVERSY: Upside-down flag at McDonald's flies at half staff

A Channel 11 News crew on Wednesday visited a McDonald's in Follansbee, W.Va., where an American flag was seen flying upside down and at half-staff on the morning after the election.

Channel 11’s sister station WTOV reported that the flag in question was taken down at approximately 11:30 a.m., but not before the news organization captured video of it.

Flying the flag upside down is generally a sign of distress. This has many people wondering whether the McDonald's incident was some sort of protest in response to Tuesday night's presidential election results.

WTOV was initially told that it was the "owner's decision," but the owner, Karen Mezan, subsequently told Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz that the episode was a mistake, and it's now being blown way out of proportion.

Mezan told Marcinkiewicz the mistake was fixed as soon as it was brought to her attention. She said the flag was put up at 4:30 a.m. and the person who put it up simply made a mistake in the dark.

However, not everyone agrees with Mezan.

“I think it’s a stab at us. I don’t understand why anyone would want to do this,” veteran Lou Headman said. “We know it was because of the election.”

The incident has created a large buzz on the WPXI Facebook page with thousands of viewers commenting.

“Part of why the United States is a great nation is because people can speak their mind and not be imprisoned,” Paul Hansen said.

“This is disgusting and I will not be eating at any McDonald’s for the rest of my life,” Cynthia Clark said.

Gee Ms Clark, I wonder if you find this disturbing:

God help us all.
