Our nation's symbol is growing...

I kinda want to put in a voice over of "Honey! I'm home!" as the male comes in and starts to work on the nest, but these love birds are taking care of their soon to be baby. Too cool to not post.

Harvey....

For obvious reasons I've been off the blog over the last week. I'm sitting in my patrol vehicle, in a fire station parking lot, catching up on some paperwork and decided to check my FB page. A friend posted this and I had to share.

I've been told Hurricane Harvey dropped 13 trillion gallons of water on the Houston area. I can't vouch for that, but this video is nothing short of incredible.

Hopefully Hurricane Irma takes a north turn to the Atlantic. We don't need any more water for a while. It hasn't rained since Wednesday and I checked my flower bed. The soil is still moist!

Stay dry my friends!

Thanks Mike C for the link.

Saw this and had to share. Beautiful animals filmed by a drone in the wild. Enjoy.

A look at Houston today

As many of you know Houston got drenched today and we had localized flooding. Someone put up a drone and here is the video. It's an awesome view of what Mother Nature can do.

Slip sliding away....slip sliding away....

I've sometimes gotten into discussions with friends from Texas and Louisiana on weather. Occasionally I get someone saying "I'd rather have the cold, I can always put on more cloths.." My first question is "Have you ever lived where it's cold like North Dakota?" Usually I get a "no".

Things like this explain why I like it down here....
