Another worthless show from the academic community

Entergy, LSU To Unveil Electric Vehicle Chargers

In preparation for the introduction of two new electric vehicles into the Louisiana marketplace this fall - the Chevrolet Volt and the Nissan Leaf - Entergy Louisiana, in partnership with colleges and universities across the state, has begun setting up electric vehicle charging stations.

Entergy spokesperson Molly Jahncke tells 99.5FM the company will be donating 16 electric vehicle chargers to universities over the next year. Two of the chargers have been installed in parking lots at LSU-Baton Rouge and will be unveiled today.

"The chargers will provide free charging to students, faculty and staff of LSU that will have electric vehicles in the future," Jahncke said.

Jahncke says use of the chargers at LSU will at first be limited to students, faculty and staff. No word yet on when they'd be available to the general public.

Electric car owners would register their vehicles with the university and receive swipe cards to gain access to the chargers, Jahncke said.

Efforts are also underway to bring electric vehicle chargers to the New Orleans area.

"We are in discussions with some New Orleans-area universities and hope to be working with them to continue the program in the New Orleans metro area as well," Jahncke added.
No, it's not a free charge. The electricity comes from somewhere and it will probably be either coal or nuclear. Some one is paying for it.

But few instructors can afford a 40K mini car ..and fewer students can afford it although they generally can fit better in a microcar.

And now we have another group of oxygen thieves to handle registering the cars and the cards.

How about this LSU. You worry about getting your students educated and let us handle our cars. By the way, the electric car is no more the car of the future than it was in the 1900s.
