Trooper Parnell Matthews passed away as the result of a stroke which he suffered in a training exercise ten days earlier.
He was participating in the training exercise when he suddenly collapsed. He was flown to a hospital Nebraska Medical Center where he remained in a coma until passing away.
Trooper Matthews had served with the Nebraska State Patrol for nine years. He is survived by his four children.
